Lauren Karan

Director, Recruitment Specialist, Certified Organisational Coach

Lauren’s extensive knowledge of culture fit and market mapping sets her apart from her peers. Lauren embeds herself within businesses and understands the full process of hiring decisions and the impact this has on business. Having been on the other side, and having worked in a spectrum of roles, Lauren knows what makes a good company.

With over 12 years of experience as a technical and engineering specialist recruiting in the building and civil construction markets, Lauren holds a degree in psychology, accreditation in behavioural interviewing and psychometric testing, and is also a certified organisational coach.

Lauren began Karan & Co after noticing a gap in the market and an opportunity for a new business model to take shape. Lauren didn’t just want to work in recruitment, she wanted to build a partnership with her clients, and she wanted them to see long-lasting and meaningful results through good talent management and acquisition practice.

With a strong network of repeat business relationships with her clients, her ‘people first’ approach with candidates and clients, along with an authentic, honest approach, ensures she is not only credible with her candidates but also a trusted advisor to her clients.

Early in her career, Lauren discovered her talent for recruitment and building teams that make an impact. She turned this passion into an award winning method –

a) Understanding what each team needs to succeed; and
b) Identifying great, and aligned people to elevate that team.

Motivators: Making the industry better and having quality time with my family

Loves: Goats, singing, dogs, coffee, wine, a warm fireplace and sunrise

Not so much: Playdough/kinetic sand, red onion in salads, doing dishes, when I lose a single EarPod, waking up to view a beautiful sunrise (see my predicament?)

Executive Recruiter - Talent Search

With over eight years experience in relationship building, recruiting, and talent sourcing, along with experience running her own businesses, Sancha is a resourceful and meticulous Executive Search professional with extensive experience in talent acquisition and search strategies.

Sancha’s specialities include but are not limited to:

With a passion for partnering with stakeholders to achieve their full potential, Sancha enjoys searching for, attracting, assessing and hiring the best-fit candidates for her clients.

Sancha has felt a true attachment to the concept of ‘empowering people and organisations’ to realise their potential and help organisations attract and retain top talent.

ALICE CLEARY

Talent Acquisition Specialist

With a background in sales, human resources and recruitment, Alice thrives working in a dynamic environment with like-minded people. Alice has worked in both agency and internal recruitment environments for 3 years. She has a Bachelor of Business and has done further studies in Human Resources as she is very passionate about recruitment, the hiring process and supporting and guiding talent.

Alice has worked as an Internal Recruiter for Ligentia in the Sea and Air Freight industry and Qscan Group in the Medical industry. She has done HR project work for clients including position descriptions, and when it comes to systems there’s nobody better

Alice has worked with a diverse range of clients. Roles she has placed have included:

KELLIE RODRIQUEZ

Recruitment Coordinator (and serial organiser)

Kellie stands out for her exceptional organisational skills and unyielding determination. At Karan & Co, she’s not just a team player but also a loyal member always ready to take on new challenges.

In her previous role as a Talent Acquisition Specialist, Kellie smoothly managed recruitment and onboarding processes. She provided crucial support to hiring managers and built strong connections with candidates, leveraging her extensive knowledge and experience in her current role at Karan & Co.

Having navigated roles as a Contract Administrator and Project Manager, Kellie’s organisational skills shine in her current position as a Recruitment Sourcing Specialist. Her journey reflects her adaptability and commitment to continuous improvement.

Kellie’s biggest achievement is being a mum to two beautiful daughters, as well as having the confidence to change her career path to pursue recruitment.

Motivators: Two beautiful daughters.

Loves: The ocean, farmers markets, chocolate, rom coms, coffee and going to gym

Not so much: Eggs, burpees, cold weather

ELISE HOPPE

Recruitment Coordinator

With a customer service background, Elise brings a wealth of experience to her role as Recruitment Coordinator. Elise works hard to improve the JobAdder database, assist with scheduling and posting for social media, doing the reference checks and compliance checks for candidates, and providing support in phone screening, booking interviews and coordination support for the Talent Acquisition team. Elise also helps to source candidates for select projects.

Loves: I love spending time at the beach soaking up the sun, being out in nature, doing the small things with family, going to the gym. I also have a big love of food!

Motivators: I am motivated by the people around me that I look up to and their accomplishments and struggles, positivity, and the aspiration to be the best version of myself.

GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY

We believe strongly in giving back to our community.

We have committed to donate 10 per cent of our profits to charities every year, with a goal to increase that contribution on a yearly basis as our business grows.

Our last year’s recipient was Marissa Pohlman in her quest for sponsorship to the Olympics. Learn more about her story and how to sponsor her here.

Lauren, our Talent Director, has a background in animal rescue and welfare. She has volunteered with Animal Welfare League for over 5 years and has fostered over 10 unwanted animals from pounds around the country to find them new homes. Her property in Brisbane is a wildlife release site to create new beginnings for orphaned native wildlife.

Our team is always willing to lend a hand and love to take part in volunteer projects. Lauren can often be found giving interview tips to school leavers, sitting on the local P&C to raise money for schools and volunteering with NAWIC to encourage more women into the construction industry.
